New Year, New Goals
Today marks the end of my holiday vacation and the start of a new year. Rather than making resolutions that tend to get broken after a few weeks (you know, the classic "eat better, lose weight" etc), I prefer setting goals for myself. Before the page turns toward 2007 in 365ish days, here are some things I'd like to accomplish in 2006.
Professional Goals:
- Build some killer Flex applications
- Author a book
- Continue to grow my consulting business, possibly bringing on employees
- Write at least 2 articles for technical magazines
- Contribute at least 50 examples to IFBIN
- Keep a steady stream of useful posts / code snippets coming to this weblog (once a week?)
A Few Personal Goals:
- Buy a house with my beautiful wife
- Celebrate our 1 year anniversary in style
- Get another dog to keep Yellowdog company
- Learn some songs in a new genre on guitar. Metal is fun to play, but I'd like to expand my horizons a bit and be more versatile.
I'm really looking forward to 2006. Here's to a memorable year with good times, great friends, and lots of code. :-)

I have to admit, I have the "lose weight" one on the list again. But this time I'm really going to do it. No! Really!!! :)

Hi Darron,
You could try to learn some Spanish Guitar. Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo could be a great inspiration ;)

Hi Carlos, thanks for the suggesting. I was actually leaning towards something like classical guitar. I'm at a point where I've been playing the same thing for so long that I've sort of apexed and need something different to grow again as a guitarist.

Hi Darron,
As a guitarrist, I always enjoyed playing themes from Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie J. Malmsteen or Jason Becker. This was absolutely a truly fun music to play...it's a pity that nowadays I don't have the time to play...but that's life! ;)
PD: I recommend you to get a gp4 file (guitar pro) from Steve Vai's "For the love of god"...really god stuff! ;)
